Privacy Policy

Shelley Glover Foundation Effective Date: [04/21/2026] Last Updated: [04/21/2026]

The Shelley Glover Foundation ("the Foundation," "we," "us," or "our") is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (Tax ID: 20-2476733). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting the personal information you share with us. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit our website at shelleygloverfoundation.org, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have regarding your information.

By using our website, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use our website.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information in two ways: information you provide directly to us, and information collected automatically when you interact with our website.

Information You Provide Directly

  • Donation information: When you make a donation through our website, we collect your name, email address, billing address, donation amount, and payment details. Payment card information is processed and stored by our payment processor (see Section 3), not by the Foundation directly.
  • Newsletter signups and email communications: When you subscribe to our updates or provide your email address, we collect your name and email address.
  • Contact and correspondence: If you email us, complete a contact form, or otherwise communicate with us, we retain the content of those communications and any contact information you provide.
  • Program applications and scholarship information: If you apply for a ski scholarship, register for a swim program, or participate in other Foundation programs, we may collect information necessary to administer the program, which may include the applicant's name, age, school, athletic background, and — in the case of minors — a parent or guardian's contact information and consent.

Information Collected Automatically

When you visit our website, certain technical information is automatically collected, including:

  • IP address and approximate geographic location
  • Browser type and version
  • Device type and operating system
  • Pages visited, time spent on pages, and referring website
  • Date and time of your visit

This information is collected through cookies, web beacons, and similar tracking technologies, and is typically used in aggregate form to help us understand how visitors use our site.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Process and acknowledge donations, and issue tax-deductible donation receipts
  • Send updates, newsletters, and other communications you've requested
  • Respond to your inquiries and communications
  • Administer scholarships, swim and ski programs, and other Foundation activities
  • Maintain records of donors, supporters, and program participants
  • Improve our website and understand how visitors use it
  • Comply with legal, tax, and regulatory obligations (including IRS requirements for 501(c)(3) organizations)
  • Prevent fraud and protect the security of our website and our donors

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Website hosting platform: Our website is hosted on Squarespace. Squarespace may collect and process visitor information on our behalf in accordance with its own privacy practices. You can review Squarespace's privacy policy at squarespace.com/privacy.
  • Payment processor: Online donations are processed through our payment processor (Stripe, via Squarespace Commerce). Your payment card information is transmitted directly to the payment processor and is subject to its privacy policy and security practices. The Foundation does not store full payment card numbers.
  • Other service providers: We may work with additional service providers who help us operate the Foundation — such as email service providers, accountants, and program partners. These providers are only permitted to use your information to provide services to us.
  • Program partners: For scholarship and program activities, we may share limited information with partner organizations (such as schools, ski clubs, the Boys and Girls Club of Dane County, or similar partners) as necessary to administer a program the participant has applied for.
  • Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, court order, or other legal process, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.
  • Business transitions: In the unlikely event of a merger, dissolution, or transfer of Foundation assets, donor and supporter information may be transferred as part of that transition, subject to applicable law.

4. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies — including those provided by Squarespace — to recognize returning visitors, remember preferences, process donations, and gather analytics about site usage. Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. If you disable cookies, some parts of our website (including the donation form) may not function properly.

5. Third-Party Links

Our website may contain links to third-party websites, including social media platforms and partner organizations. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any personal information.

6. Data Security

We take reasonable administrative, technical, and physical measures to protect the information we collect against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. Online donations are processed over encrypted connections. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, including meeting legal, tax, accounting, and reporting obligations. Donor records are retained for the minimum period required by IRS regulations applicable to 501(c)(3) organizations.

8. Your Choices

  • Unsubscribe from emails: You may opt out of our newsletter or other marketing communications at any time by clicking the "unsubscribe" link in any email we send, or by contacting us directly.
  • Access and correction: You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct inaccurate information, by contacting us using the details in Section 13.
  • Deletion: You may request that we delete your personal information, subject to any legal or recordkeeping obligations that require us to retain it (for example, records of tax-deductible donations).

9. Children's Privacy

Because the Foundation supports youth sports programs, we may collect information about minors in connection with scholarship applications, swim programs, and similar activities. When we do, we collect that information from a parent or legal guardian, or with their verifiable consent, and we use it only to administer the program the child is participating in.

Our website itself is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information online directly from children under 13 without parental consent, consistent with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13 without proper parental consent, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

10. State Privacy Rights

Depending on the U.S. state in which you reside, you may have additional rights regarding your personal information, including the right to know what personal information we collect about you, the right to request access to or correction of that information, the right to request deletion of your personal information, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the information in Section 13.

11. Do Not Track

Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal. Because there is no industry-standard response to DNT signals, our website does not currently respond to them.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Your continued use of our website after any changes indicates your acceptance of the updated policy.
